ADA Compliance Committee

The ADA Compliance Committee supports Texas Tech University's efforts to maintain compliance with accessibility requirements and provides recommendations regarding university policies, procedures and accessibility concerns.


Committee Charge

The ADA Compliance Committee is responsible for helping ensure Texas Tech University complies with ADA guidelines by:

  • Reviewing and recommending resolutions for ADA accessibility-related complaints brought forward by faculty, staff and students.
  • Reviewing current university policies for concurrence with ADA regulations.
  • Recommending changes in policies or procedures as they relate to ADA compliance.

The ADA Compliance Committee reports to the Provost.


Committee Membership

Members of the ADA Compliance Committee are appointed by the Provost or designee in consultation with the Campus ADA Coordinator. Committee representation includes:


Quorum

A quorum is met when 10 of the 18 members are present, including at least one staff representative and one faculty representative.

Committee Meetings

  • The committee convenes bimonthly unless additional meetings are needed.
  • Meeting minutes are recorded and distributed before the next meeting.
  • Recommendations made by the committee must pass by a simple majority vote.
  • All members are voting members. The chair votes only in the event of a tie.

Committee Recommendations

Recommendations from the committee shall be:

  • Written.
  • Accompanied by meeting minutes.
  • Signed by the committee chair.
  • Submitted to the Office of the Provost for action.
