Scholarships
Student Disability Services and the TECHniques Center offer scholarship opportunities for eligible Texas Tech students. Students can also use Scholarship Universe to find additional Texas Tech and external scholarship opportunities that match their qualifications.
Applications for 2026-27 SDS and TECHniques Center scholarships are closed. Applications for the 2027-28 academic year are expected to become available in October 2026.
How to Apply
Texas Tech uses Scholarship Universe to connect students with scholarship opportunities based on their eligibility. Instead of completing a separate general SDS scholarship application, students create a Scholarship Universe profile, answer eligibility questions and review scholarships that match their information.
Most Texas Tech scholarships for continuing students are available from Oct. 1 through Feb. 1 for the following academic year. Students should log in regularly because scholarship availability and deadlines may vary.
- Log in to Scholarship Universe. Use your Texas Tech eRaider credentials.
- Complete your profile. Answer as many eligibility questions as possible so the system can identify scholarships that may match your qualifications.
- Review your matches. Check available and partial matches and complete any additional information required for scholarships you want to pursue.
- Check back regularly. New scholarship opportunities and external awards may become available throughout the year.
Student Disability Services Scholarships
SDS scholarships have specific eligibility requirements. Students must meet the criteria for the individual scholarship in addition to applicable SDS scholarship requirements.
Clyde and Ouida Black Scholarship
The Clyde and Ouida Black Scholarship is awarded annually to eligible students who are hard of hearing and use implants or an assisted listening device, such as an FM system or hearing aids, and are able to communicate orally.
Priority is given to an incoming freshman or transfer student from Paris Junior College or Temple Junior College.
Olive-Pfluger Scholarship
The Olive-Pfluger Scholarship is awarded annually to eligible students with a documented learning disability, AD/HD or autism.
Qualifying learning disabilities may include dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, specific learning disabilities in mathematics, reading or writing and oral or written language disorders.
TECHniques Center Scholarships
Additional scholarship opportunities are available for eligible students participating in the TECHniques Center. Availability and eligibility requirements may vary by academic year.
Students enrolled in the TECHniques Center should complete their Scholarship Universe profile and review their scholarship matches to determine which opportunities are currently available.
Additional Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarship Universe also includes external scholarship opportunities. Students can use their profile to identify awards that may match their academic background, interests and other eligibility criteria.
External scholarships are offered by organizations outside Texas Tech. Their eligibility requirements, application processes and deadlines are established by the sponsoring organization and may change throughout the year.

Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center are separate institutions. SDS scholarships are for eligible Texas Tech University students registered with Student Disability Services. TTUHSC students should review scholarship opportunities available through TTUHSC.
No. Scholarship applications are completed electronically through Scholarship Universe. Student Disability Services does not accept paper scholarship applications.
