About
The Bridges Across Texas Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (BAT-LSAMP) program, named in honor of former Congressman Louis Stokes, is an alliance comprising of Texas Tech University, The University of North Texas at Dallas, Dallas College - El Centro Campus, South Plains College, and Texas Southmost College. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the program aims to increase the number of STEM degrees awarded to historically underrepresented groups, including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders.
Our two main objectives are:
- Increase the number of underrepresented students who complete baccalaureate degrees in STEM disciplines.
- Increase the number of successful transfers of underrepresented students in STEM disciplines.
Program Eligibility
Before you begin this application, be sure you are eligible by confirming these requirements apply to you:
- U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident of the U.S.
- Declared STEM major
- Full-time undergraduate (at least 12 credit hours per semester)
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
Note: Graduating seniors who have at least one full year of academics remaining are eligible to apply; however, approval is not guaranteed.
