Apply Today!

Are you planning on applying to Texas Tech University soon? Here is a quick guide on exactly what you need to do to get into the College of Media & Communication.

Required Documents

  1. Common App Application
  2. $75.00 Application Fee or Fee Waiver
  3. Official Transcripts (high school and/or college)
  4. *Official SAT and/or ACT Scores

*Due to the decision made by the College Board and ACT to suspend the availability of testing during the COVID-19 virus pandemic, prospective students applying for admission to Texas Tech University for the Fall 2020 term will not be required to submit an ACT or SAT score. Applicants who have completed all other application requirements, will be given special consideration for admission through a holistic review.

A student who has previously taken an ACT or SAT and has a score is strongly encouraged to submit them to us for evaluation. We also strongly recommend that all students have a standardized test on file prior to enrollment. Without a standardized test, a student will not be considered for scholarships. Lack of an SAT or ACT score may also affect meeting Texas Success Initiative exemptions and course placement.

Step 1: The Application

Head over to https://www.commonapp.org/ and start an application. During the application, select Texas Tech University and then select one of our majors. Selecting one of our majors through this application will automatically put you into this college once you have been admitted to Texas Tech. Below is a list of our majors for you to choose from.

Step 2: The Application Fee

Texas Tech requires a $75.00 application fee, which can be paid online here. If you paid this fee on your Common App application, there is no need to pay again.

Qualifying freshman and transfer applicants can apply for a fee waiver that covers the full cost of the application fee to Texas Tech University. Visit Texas Tech Admissions for more information. For a very brief summary of who qualifies, see below.

To qualify, an applicant must be a United States Citizen, permanent resident, or a student identified under Senate Bill 1528 (79th Legislature, 2005) as a resident of Texas. International applicants do not qualify for this fee waiver. Students seeking a post baccalaureate undergraduate degree do not qualify for this waiver.
