Purpose and goals of Texas Techspo

The purpose of Texas Techspo is to help undergraduate Red Raiders understand and utilize the wide range of Texas Tech resources supported by student service fees. Through an interactive, expo style experience, Texas Techspo brings together offices, departments, and programs that support students academically, personally, financially, socially, professionally, and holistically. By offering direct access to staff, hands on activities, and student friendly engagement, the event encourages early awareness, empowers students to navigate their college journey, and strengthens campuswide collaboration in support of student success.

Texas Techspo aims to:

  • Increase students’ awareness and understanding of the Texas Tech resources supported by student service fees.
  • Provide a centralized, accessible environment where students can connect directly with staff who support their academic, personal, and professional success.
  • Encourage early and proactive use of student resources through a welcoming, interactive, and high-impact experience.
  • Strengthen collaboration among the diverse Texas Tech units that contribute to student success and the overall Red Raider experience.
  • Help students build confidence in navigating campus services and making informed decisions about the resources available to them.

How can we participate?

Texas Tech offices, departments, and programs that provide student service fee supported resources are invited to host a booth at Texas Techspo. Participation allows your area to highlight the services you offer, connect with students early in the semester, and contribute to a high-impact campuswide event focused on student success.

Who should staff our booth

Each booth should be staffed by representatives who can clearly explain your services and engage students. This may include professional staff, graduate assistants, and trained student ambassadors who are knowledgeable, friendly, and available for the full duration of the event.

What should we bring

To help students understand your services, offices are encouraged to bring:

  • Clear signage or a table display
  • Brochures, QR codes, or informational materials
  • Giveaways or promotional items
  • A hands on, interactive activity or demonstration that makes learning engaging and memorable

Examples of interactive activities:

  • IT Help Central: A โ€œphishingโ€ game with a play fishing pole where students catch items and learn how to spot fraudulent emails.
  • Transportation & Parking Services:  A timed toy-car parking challenge that teaches students about transportation and parking services.
  • University Libraries: A bookshelf re-organization activity where students arrange books in the correct Dewey Decimal order while learning about library services and available resources.

Get creative and have fun with your activity. If you need help brainstorming ideas, email studentengagement@ttu.edu โ€” we would be happy to help!
