Q. If I have to take a math/chemistry placement exam, can I take it at Academic Testing?
A. Academic testing does not administer these exams. You must contact each respective department in order to attempt these exams.
Q. Is credit earned by CLEP/AP/IB the same as credit earned by taking a course?
A. Credit earned through these exams shows as a credit on your transcript and you will not receive a letter grade, therefore scores will not affect a student's GPA.
Q. How do I know if I can attempt a CLEP exam?
A. As a student, it is your responsibility to determine whether or not you are eligible to attempt CLEP. You should check with your advisor to be sure it will apply to your degree plan.
Q. Can I attempt a test that is not accepted by Texas Tech for credit at another school?
A. Tech offers every CLEP exam published by College Board and it is up to your discretion when you test to indicate that you would like your scores to be sent to another university.
Q. If I do not receive a passing score on a CLEP exam, when can I test again?
A. You must wait 6 months before attempting the CLEP in which you did not receive credit.
