Background

Dr. Sarturi received his D.V.M. from the University for the Development of Pantanal – Brazil, a M.S. in Agronomy from the University of Sao Paulo – Brazil, a Ph.D. in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, and worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Amarillo - Texas.

Research

Dr. Sarturi's research focuses on the digestive physiology of beef cattle. More specifically, the development of strategies to improve, evaluate, and better utilize byproducts, forages, and grains in ruminant diets. His research approach involves the manipulation feeding technologies at pre and/or post animal consumption.

As manager for the Ruminant Nutrition Laboratory (Food Technology Building) and the Ruminant Nutrition Center (cattle metabolism area at the New Deal Research and Education Center), Dr. Sarturi fosters basic and applied research and empowers undergrad and graduate students.

Dr. Sarturi is also an active member of the TTU – International Center for Food Industry Excellence (ICFIE) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). He teaches undergraduate (Feeds & Feeding [Service-learning class] and Stocker Cattle & Feedlot Management) and graduate-level courses (Research Methods in Ruminant Nutrition; Minerals & Vitamins in Animal Nutrition; Advanced Feedlot Management; and Nutrition Seminar).
