Silvia Hernandez
Academic Biography:
Born and raised in Bucaramanga, Colombia, Silvia is passionate about Latin American literature, feminist theory, and decolonial thought. She earned her BA in Modern Languages from Universidad Industrial de Santander (2022), where she developed a strong interest in cultural memory and testimonial writing. She completed her MA in Modern Languages and Literatures with a specialization in Spanish at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (2025). Her research explores Latin American women's autobiographical writing, focusing on how these texts challenge colonial frameworks and dominant historical narratives. As part of her MA, she conducted a digital humanities project examining gender representation in literary criticism of Colombian writer Elisa Mújica. She received a Digital Humanities Summer Fellowship and participated in the Spring Academy at the University of Potsdam. In Fall 2025, she will begin her PhD in Spanish at Texas Tech University.
