Program Description

Texas Tech University is offering a unique opportunity for students to live, learn, travel and enjoy the life, culture, and Spanish language during long semesters, or during the summer program, in Sevilla. Spanish course credit may be earned at the lower-level (first and second year completing the language requirement) and upper level (third and fourth year). The program is directed and the courses are taught by Texas Tech University Spanish professors.

*You can fulfill your language requirement by taking 1607 and 2607 in one semester.

Additional Extracurricular Activities

Sevillanas Dance

Semester students have the option to learn the typical dance that is seen at local fairs, weddings, and family parties. The instructor for the class is a local professional dancer and the cost to participate is nominal for students at The Center. The Sevillanas Dance classes meet 2-3 times weekly during the semester.
Note: The dance classes are not for credit.

Intercambio/Tutor

Students have Spanish tutors with whom they meet for several weeks during the semester. The tutors are university students who provide hands-on opportunities for language development as well as cultural adaptation to Spanish life.

Location

The program is based in Sevilla, España, a beautiful city in Andalucía in southern Spain. It is a vibrant, dynamic city with many things to see and do. The location of Sevilla provides convenient access for our excursions to Granada, Cordoba, Madrid, Toledo and the beaches of Andalucía.  All students will be housed in Sevilla with Texas Tech approved Spanish families. Families are carefully selected and screened so as to provide students with a positive living and cultural experience.

Eligibility

The long-semester and summer programs are open to TTU students who wish to complete respective course work, and also to students from any accredited United States college or university, and to graduate students. Participants will enroll as Texas Tech University students.

Lodging

All students will be housed in Sevilla with Texas Tech approved Spanish families. Families are carefully selected and screened so as to provide students with a positive living and cultural experience.

Scholarships

  1. Lorum Stratton Study Abroad Scholarship at CMLL
    (please be sure to check the corresponding box)
  2. A number of scholarships are available through the Office of International Affairs on campus. These scholarships are for all Texas Tech students.
  3. Additional scholarships should be explored with the TTU Scholarship Office.

Financial Aid

Students eligible for Financial Aid at TTU can use that aid to study abroad. The Study Abroad office will provide a budget for your program.

Application/Payments

A completed application and a $200 non-refundable deposit will be required ASAP to insure your place in the program.
