Dr. Jessica Smith is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of English
at Texas Tech. She received her PhD in English from Texas Tech University and a Master
of Fine Arts in Poetry from The New School. Her research and creative work focuses
mainly on representations of intimate partner violence in contemporary American media.
She has published poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and reviews in The Cincinnati Review, The Kenyon Review, The Rumpus, The Texas Observer, and other outlets. She previously worked as the Managing Editor for Iron Horse Literary Review and co-founded and curated the LHUCA Literary Series. Currently, she serves as a poetry reader for The Adroit Journal.
