Carie S. Tucker King MA Student - Literature

A graduate of the Technical Communication & Rhetoric Program (PhD 2012), I decided to return to Texas Tech's English Department to pursue a MA in English (anticipated 2027). I already have a BA in English from Baylor University, a MA in Technical Writing from University of North Texas, and the TEFL/TESL/TESOL Certification. I completed a postdoctoral year at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in the Center for Spirituality and Ethics. I felt the need for a literature degree so I could best serve my department and my students.

I am a Clinical Professor and the Director of First-Year Writing at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). In my time at UTD, I have taught 37 different classes (content or modality), and I have won the President's Award for Online Teaching Excellence, the UTD's Center for Teaching and Learning's Outstanding Service Award, and the Worsfold Award for Undergraduate Research Mentorship and for Online/Hybrid Teaching Excellence. We train professionals all over the world to disseminate information with effective communication methods.
