Luca Mohr MA Student - Literature

My name is Luca Mohr, and I was born and raised in a small town outside of Lansing, Michigan. Following my graduation from Bath High School, I moved to Lubbock, Texas, to attend Texas Tech University. This decision profoundly shaped both my academic and personal life. In May 2026, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas Tech, with a minor in history, graduating summa cum laude. I am now pursuing my Master of Arts in English (comparative literature) at Texas Tech. I am the recipient of the Mary Sue Carlock Award for best essay in a sophomore-level English class for my essay "The Woman Question: Victorian Femininity and Resistance in Coventry Patmore and Dante Gabriel Rossetti." I was also awarded the Lucille Gill English Memorial Scholarship.

My academic interests are rooted in literature, rhetoric, and the relationship between history and literary interpretation. As a teaching assistant in the Department of English, I strive to foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and effective communication—one similar to the example given to me during my undergraduate at Texas Tech. I believe that strong reading and writing skills are essential not only to academic success, but also to meaningful engagement with media as a whole. I have an emphasis on close reading, thoughtful discussion, and the development of clear and persuasive prose, with the goal of helping students become more confident writers and more attentive readers.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy pursuing the many wonders this beautiful world has to offer through the arts of travel, movie watching, thrifting, and plenty more. I spend a lot of time engaging in independent historical research. I always seek to expand my knowledge ,and I am grateful for the opportunities Texas Tech has afforded me. I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for literature and writing with my students.
