The theme for the fall 2015 program was Classic and Contemporary Controversies in Political Economy. Participants engaged both enduring and more recent debates concerning the appropriate scope of market activity and the role of the state in shaping economic outcomes.

More specifically, participants examined debates about the proper scope of free trade in a globalized economy, the economic effects of drug prohibition, questions about whether capitalism increases inequality (and how the state should respond), the economic effects of immigration, and the best way to combat poverty, among other topics.

In early November 2015, participants attended a summit with participants from the programs at Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Baylor University. The summit took place on the SMU campus in Dallas and featured presentations from Prof. Russell Sobel on the nature and consequences of crony capitalism and its impact on entrepreneurial activity. Participants also engaged in interactive discussion groups on the topic of crony capitalism.
