The North Region of the Texas Academy Recognizes Nutritional Sciences

The North Region of the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recognized Department of Nutritional Sciences faculty, students, and alumni at their annual conference in March.

Alumna Samantha Chavez, MS, RD, LD, CNSC, was recognized as Young Dietitian of the Year. 

Chairperson Nikhil Dhurander, Ph.D., was awarded the Bluebonnet Award. The purpose of the Bluebonnet Award of the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is to recognize an individual who is not a dietitian, but who has contributed significantly to the advancement of nutrition and dietetics in Texas.

Associate Chairperson Lydia Kloiber, MS, RDN, LD, was recognized as the Distinguished Dietitian. This is the highest honor bestowed on a member by the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. It is designed to recognize and honor a dietitian who has made outstanding and significant contributions to the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as to the profession of dietetics.

Alumnus Gordon R. Thomas, MS, RD, CDM, CFPP, was recognized as Texas Academy Outstanding Preceptor Award.  

Jordan H. Scott Robison was recognized for her Outstanding Dietetic Student Internship.
