Master of Science in Kinesiology
The Master of Science degree in Kinesiology offers three distinct concentrations that allow students to direct their learning experience towards their career goal. The Exercise Physiology concentration is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in allied health or obtain a Ph.D. in exercise physiology. The Human Performance concentration is designed to prepare students for careers specializing in maximizing health and physical performance or pursuit of a Ph.D. related to human performance. The Motor Behavior and Exercise and Sport Psychology concentration is designed for students interested in advanced study within sport psychology and/or motor learning, development and control.
Each concentration contains a unique curriculum, but allows elective courses to be included so that students have the flexibility to take courses that may meet their personal interests or goals. A full list of graduate courses offered by the department can be viewed in the Course Rotation link located at the bottom of this webpage. All concentrations take two years to complete and require a minimum of 36 credit hours to earn the Master's of Science degree.
Upon starting the program, students are partnered with an academic adviser who will assist in course planning. Additional learning experiences are offered to students including teaching and research opportunities. To further enhance professional development, university and departmental scholarships and travel stipends are also available for students to attend and present their research at regional or national conferences.
