Integrated Optics

Integrated Optics research in the Texas Tech Nano Tech Center involves design, modeling, fabrication and characterization of silica-based planar lightwave circuits. The combination of reflective arrayed waveguide grating (R-AWG) (de)multiplexers and external mirrors eliminates the temperature sensitivity of R-AWGs and allows for generation of arbitrary sequences of ultrafast pulses.

Our research group is also interested in novel methods for generation of sequences of ultrafast pulses. Integrated- and bulk-optic pulse shapers have been used to generate fixed or arbitrary sequences of ultrafast pulses with pulse repetition rates in the THz range.
