Key features
- Student-developed, versatile rapid-deployment 2.5 m meteorological observing platforms, used to monitor severe weather events in real time
- Measure temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, and wind speed and direction at one to ten samples per second
- Operate autonomously for about a week on battery, in significant wind

In the field
The highest wind speed recorded by a StickNet was 124 mph during Hurricane Laura in 2020. Researchers believe the platforms may withstand winds exceeding 140 mph.
Each platform stores raw data on board while sending real-time summary statistics and status updates by text message, using GPS and cell phone communications.
