the twelve archetypes

Which Story Line Tells Your Story

Psychiatrist Carl Jung connected different needs within our human psyche to stories that resonate with us. These stories employ characters whose motives we intuit because we recognize those same needs within us. Our need for stability is balanced by our needs for risk-taking and mastering the new. Likewise, we find ourselves suspended between our needs for individual development and social acceptance. This discussion will include choosing favorites in the stories we love and linking them to the archetypes that are telling our stories.

Marye Tharp is a retired associate professor of business/marketing who taught at the University of Texas, Emerson College and Shriner University.
