Texas Tech University

Public Administration Alumni Association

Texas Tech Coat of Arms

Dear Colleagues:

This is an exciting time for students, faculty, alumni, and friends of the Texas Tech University Master of Public Administration Program! The University has launched The Texas Tech Public Administration Alumni Association, and you will want to be a part of this valuable opportunity. The Alumni Association provides networking opportunities with other alumni, students, friends, and supporters of the MPA Program. Not only is this a chance to reunite with class members, it also provides an opportunity to expand your career professionally or recruit top-notch students from the MPA program to join your respective organization or business.

Members of the Public Administration Alumni Association (PAAA) are a vital resource to one another, particularly during a time when there are a substantial number of city managers who are retiring, and there is a need for a group of public servants who embrace strong ethical standards. The association provides a venue for students and alumni to pursue careers in public service professions, including governments, nonprofits, and healthcare, while also sharing a commitment to becoming involved as a supporter of the Texas Tech University Department of Political Science, which is founded upon its research in areas of public service for communities. Membership offers the possibility of meeting and connecting with other members and their personal networks. This important link to other public administrators assists members in their search for job opportunities and possibilities for career advancement.

Also important, the Alumni Association can be essential in serving as a leader in fostering continuing education in our profession and also helping to form the education of our future leaders. Through interaction with the faculty and staff of the Masters of Public Administration Program at Texas Tech, the Alumni remains aware of what is occurring in the department and the decisions that are being made. Members have the opportunity to influence those decisions. In this way, we are able to maintain and increase the value of our degree and insure that future administrators receive a quality education. In addition, the association allows our members an opportunity to contribute back to this association through scholarships and the facilitation of internships.

The levels of membership are as follows:

General Membership ($50.00): Membership is open to any person who has attended Texas Tech University, or is actively engaged in a public service profession in the fields of government, nonprofit or healthcare administration.

Student & Faculty Membership ($25.00): Membership is open to any person who is attending Texas Tech University and intending to pursue a public service career in the fields of government, nonprofit or healthcare administration. Student membership can be extended for up to two years after graduation.

Business/Associate Membership ($100.00): Membership for businesses or organizations that want to be affiliated with the Master of Public Administration Program

Honorary Membership: There is no cost for honorary members. This is membership that is bestowed by the Board of Directors upon a person who attended Texas Tech University and retired from a distinguished public service career in the fields of government, nonprofit or healthcare administration. Honorary membership may be extended by the Board to a distinguished public servant who has retired with a history of promoting the interests of the Texas Tech University Department of Political Science, the Center for Public Service, or the Texas Tech Master of Public Administration Program.

The benefits of membership in the Public Administration Alumni Association are priceless! I look forward to seeing you become a member in the near future!
