Pre-Planning Meetings
Before submitting any proposals, it is important to meet with the Office of the Provost to ensure alignment with university priorities and processes. Pre-planning meetings help identify potential overlaps, resource needs, and impacts on other departments or services.
New Programs
All new degree programs must begin with a pre-planning meeting with the Office of the Provost.
These meetings are individual and scheduled on a case-by-case basis.
- Depending on the type of program, additional discussions may be needed at the department or college level before a proposal is submitted.
- Units should also consider whether the program affects other departments, services, or systems, and consult with those stakeholders as appropriate.

New Certificates and Minors
New certificates and minors also begin with a pre-planning meeting.
These meetings are held in group format, and upcoming dates and times will be listed on this page.
- Departments should prepare to discuss how the certificate or minor will serve students, whether it overlaps with existing offerings, and any impacts on resources or services.

- Wednesday, 11/12, 3 pm, TLPDC 153
New Courses
Pre-planning meetings with the Office of the Provost are not required for new courses.
However, depending on the type of change, discussions at the department or college level may be necessary before submitting a proposal.
- Meetings are strongly recommended if the course is new to the Core Curriculum or involves significant changes to existing Core courses.
- As with programs and certificates, consider whether the new course affects other departments, services, or systems, and consult with stakeholders as needed before moving forward.
