University Recreation Construction Updates

University Recreation routinely updates and maintains spaces and equipment with a goal of providing the best user experience for you!

Below is a list of current and upcoming projects that may effect space availability and the respective timeline for each project.

Pickleball Courts Renovation

 

Scheduled Start: July 14, 2025     Estimated Completion: August, 2025
Estimated Project Cost: $55,000

The two tennis courts adjacent to the current pickleball courts will be renovated into an additional six pickleball courts.  Once completed, there will be a total of 12 pickleball courts available.

Update: The Pickleball Courts have been finished and are now open!

West Rec Fields 5-8 Turf Field Resurfacing

Started: May 19, 2025     Estimated Completion: July 14, 2025
Estimated Project Cost: $2,7000,000

The West Rec turf fields will be resurfaced in Summer 2025.  The project is expected to be completed over the summer and will be ready for Fall Intramural Flag Football and Sport Club practices!

Update: The West Rec Turf Fields have been completed!  They are scheduled to open for the fall semester on Thursday, August 21.

Leisure Pool Plumbing Renovation

Start: 2/25/25     Completed!

The Aquatics area is working with Texas Tech Operations and industry partners to update and renovate the pump room that services the Leisure Pool.  This project includes work on pumps, plumbing, chemical systems and other pool equipment that needs to be replaced or renovated.  This work will ensure the Leisure Pool continues to be the best pool in West Texas and the largest outdoor lazy river in the United States on a college campus.
