Opportunities - Current Student Staff

As a new employee with University Recreation, you are required to attend Rec 101 - New Student Staff Onboarding. All sessions will take place in Room 209 in the University Recreation Center. Intramurals Officials are not required to attend this class. Please follow the instructions below to register:

The Student Development Funding Program provides financial assistance to Texas Tech student employees for professional development opportunities that support leadership, career readiness, and personal growth. Funding may be used for conferences, certifications, licenses, workshops, trainings, and other educational experiences that enhance professional success and skill development. Applications open September 1, 2026, and funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible students must not be graduating within one year of the application date, must use the funding for opportunities related to their work or career goals, notify their supervisor before applying, and have their resume and cover letter reviewed by their supervisor prior to submission. Previous awards have supported opportunities such as NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), AFAA Group Fitness Instructor certification, Country Dance Conference, Intramural Flag Football Officiating certification/training, and the NIRSA Region IV Conference. Contact your area supervisor for more information.

You must have a valid TTU Parking Pass Before filling out the Rec Form to be parking legally.

Student Development Meetings provide an opportunity for student employees to discuss workplace concerns, professional development goals, challenges, successes, or any other student staff-related topics. Whether you need guidance, support, or simply want to share feedback, you are welcome to stop by and meet with me at any time. My office is always open to support your growth and success as a student employee.

University Recreation student staff receive an exclusive 20% discount on a variety of our programs and services. Student staff must show their student ID and register/pay in person with Fitness & Wellness or Outdoor Pursuits to receive the discount.

Fitness & Wellness discounts:

  • Paid fitness classes (F45, HYROX, Personal training, Reformer Pilates, Cycling)
  • Certification classes (NASM, AFFA)
  • Massage, Cupping & Scraping
  • Special Events

Outdoor Pursuits Center (OPC) Discounts:

  • Trips (extended trips excluded)

  • Climbing wall programs and classes

You will need to complete your required University trainings within two weeks of your hire date. Please allow 3-5 business days for your hiring paperwork to be processed before attempting to log in to Cornerstone. We recommend waiting one full week after your hire date before completing your trainings. Please follow the instructions below to register:

  • Log-in using your eRaider credentials.
  • Click Library to locate the training.
  • Select EEO, Title IX, The Clery Act, and Ethical Conduct Compliance Training.
