Texas Tech University

Human Research Protection Program

During the winter break, December 17, 2018 – January 28, 2019, the IRB reviewers will not be reviewing submissions. Researchers will still be able to submit over the break but no submissions will be reviewed.

OHRP has released a revised Common Rule (45 CFR 46) and it will go into effect on January 21, 2019.  The HRPP office will be working over the break to implement these changes. Researchers will notice changes to the HRPP website, policies and procedures, and Cayuse IRB template.  Researchers submitting IRBs with federal funding need to contact CassiDe Street, Ph.D.  All Common Rule questions can be directed toward Dr. Street.

  • The new Cayuse IRB template was launched on Friday, December 7, 2018. The new template follows the revised regulations.  Any research submitted on the new template between December 7, 2018 – January 18, 2019 will not be approved until January 28, 2019.

The HRPP office will close beginning Friday, December 21, 2018 and will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Texas Tech University is committed to protecting the rights and welfare of individuals participating in research. Texas Tech's Institutional Review Board (IRB) is charged with reviewing all human subjects research in accordance with federal regulations, state laws, and local and University policies (TTU OP 74.09).

The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) serves as a liaison to the IRB and point of contact for participants and researchers.
