Dr. Dhawal Buaria is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech. He received his Ph.D. And M.S. Degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees, also in Aerospace Engineering, from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Between his PhD and joining Texas Tech, Dr. Buaria worked as a research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization (in Germany) and also at New York University.
Dr. Buaria's research focuses on understanding and modeling large-scale fluid dynamical phenomena as fundamentally relevant for engineering and geophysical applications. Notably, by combining theory with cutting-edge numerical simulations and deep learning techniques, his work seeks to decipher universal properties of fully turbulent flows and associated mixing and transport phenomena. His research has been published in numerous high-impact journals, including Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, PNAS, and Science Advances. In addition to his research, Dr. Buaria is also committed to enhancing STEM through his teaching and mentoring efforts.
