Social Events
Social Events are held are held once or twice a month as a way for us to get together as a community and to get to know one another. Our goal is to help you make Texas Tech and Lubbock home. We welcome any Red Raider that wants to get to know more students. Sometimes we attend Texas Tech events or make plans to attend a favorite Lubbock tradition or location.
We often choose free events or simply get a meal or activity that allows us to come together and grow in our friendships! Keep an eye on our social media and communication platforms that may list impromptu events as they happen around town and on campus!

Transfer Welcome Week is your launchpad into life at Texas Tech! Held during Raider Welcome, these specially curated events are designed to help you make new friends, get connected to campus resources, and discover ways to get involved as a student leader. Whether you’re joining a game night, or exploring leadership opportunities, Transfer Welcome Week is all about starting strong and feeling right at home from day one.
Looking to meet new people and have some fun along the way? Our Transfer Meet-Ups are regularly hosted events—both on campus and around Lubbock—that give you the chance to connect with other transfer students in a relaxed, social setting. From coffee hangouts and trivia nights to local outings and game-day watch parties, there’s always something happening to help you build community and make the most of your time at Texas Tech!

Through engaging events, campus connections, and shared stories, this week is designed to celebrate your journey and set you up for success. The overall goal of social events for new students—especially transfer students—is to foster a sense of belonging, build meaningful connections, and ease the transition into college life. These events create welcoming spaces where students can meet peers, discover campus resources, and start building their support network. For transfers, it’s about turning a fresh start into a strong foundation for success—socially, academically, and personally.
