Job Description

As a Transfer Ambassador you will:

  • Be a positive representative of Texas Tech University
  • Help new transfer students transition successfully to life at TTU
  • Provide support to students by answering questions about the social and academic aspects of TTU
  • Teach new students TTU history & traditions
  • Act as a resource to both students and parents
  • Serve as a peer guide to new students
  • Develop and implement programming that helps transfer students engage in the TTU community

The ideal Transfer Ambassador possesses:

  • Pride in and enthusiasm for Texas Tech
  • Sensitivity to the unique needs of transfer students
  • Strong interpersonal skills and outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal

Employment Overview

Spring

Ambassadors complete the 2 hour weekly spring leadership course and attend the Transfer Ambassador Retreat. 

Summer

Ambassadors will have the option to work summer I and/or summer II sessions. During both summer sessions, Transfer Ambassadors will work 10-20 hours per week at Red Raider Orientation. Duties will include leading campus tours, calling students who attended orientation, tabling at resource fairs, giving small group presentations, and engaging students at social and academic events.

Fall

Fall duties extend through the first week of September. Ambassadors will work 10-20 total hours during the fall for training and Transfer Welcome Week events.
