Testing Accommodations
Texas Tech University Department of Academic Testing Services and its staff assume no responsibility for lost, damaged, or stolen personal items brought into the testing center. Many personal belongings such as electronics, sunglasses, caps, etc. are prohibited in the testing rooms. You are encouraged to leave those items at home or in your car. However, if you choose, you may leave personal items in the ATS backpack bins at your own risk. Items cannot be left in the ATS lobby.
Under the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, students with documented learning, mechanical, mobility, or visual disabilities may be eligible for various accommodations in classroom and testing situations. Such accommodations may include:
- extended test time on tests
- alternative test formats
- enlargement of testing materials
- the use of a reader or scribe
Eligible students should discuss their specific needs with each instructor at the beginning of each academic term. The instructor may choose to provide the requested accommodations within the appropriate academic department or may allow the students to take tests in Academic Testing Services' West Hall facilities.
Eligibility for testing accommodations must be established through Student Disability Services in Room 130 Weeks Hall. Their phone number is (806) 742-2405.
