| Welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University. We provide broad-based programs resulting in B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The undergraduate program at Texas Tech prepares students for an exciting and challenging profession in chemical engineering that combines the principles of the physical and chemical sciences with the discipline of engineering to solve modern problems and serve society. The graduate programs prepare students for challenging careers in industrial research and development or in academia with a particular emphasis on research in bioengineering, energy and sustainability, polymers and materials, and simulation and modeling.
With 16 tenure-track faculty members and one professor of practice, the department serves nearly 500 undergraduates, 10 M.S. students, and 65 Ph.D. students. The department prides itself on its commitment to excellence in all areas of teaching, research, and service. We have a strong undergraduate curriculum with hands-on learning in laboratories and pragmatic instruction from faculty with industrial experience. The graduate program is equally dynamic with the very best students working with award-winning faculty on state-of-the-art research.
