Education Banner

Do you remember that special teacher—the one you looked up to and asked for advice? You can make the same kind of impression on others with a career in education. You'll spend almost as much time at the front of classroom as you do as a student in one.

Hands-on learning is a hallmark of the education program.

Why Tech?

You'll get the guidance you need to reach your goals, like Beth Hubbard, BS/Multidisciplinary Studies, 2002. Beth was sure she wanted to be a teacher but wasn't sure about who she should teach. The field experiences she had at Texas Tech helped her ultimately choose the elementary level. Beth was named 2007 Teacher of the Year in the Plano, Texas, Independent School District.

"Instilling the value of education into my students at the elementary level is vital..."

- Beth Hubbard, BS '02

Hands-on learning is a hallmark of the education program:

  • Start your teaching experience in your first year of college and complete a full year of student teaching before graduation.

  • Study abroad while partially fulfilling the student teaching requirement at a Department of Defense school.

  • Take advantage of unique facilities like a children's literature library and centers for visual impairments and autism education.
