Danny Gunn Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Dann Gunn Memorial Scholarship Endowment was established by Andrew Dorow and Tatum Gunn Dorow in 2017. The scholarship is awarded to students studying Agricultural Education with a Teacher's Certification in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications. Preference is given to non-traditional students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Danny Gunn passed away in February 2011. He is survived by his wife Melinda and his children Tatum and her husband Andrew, Garrett and Brady. Danny was born and raised in Post, Texas where he and Melinda both graduated from high school. He continued on to receive his degree from Angelo State University. Before pursuing a career in agricultural education, he worked for George Brown in the oilfield. His teaching career took him to three different school districts: beginning at Klondike High school, continuing on to Lamesa High School, and finishing his career at Idalou High School in the Agricultural Education Department. He served as an agricultural vocational teacher and FFA Advisor. He was the advisor of many Texas FFA State Star winners, speaking contest winners, and Public relations and Farm Skills team state qualifiers. Danny advised many students with their wood working and animal projects. His children were also actively involved in his FFA programs and had many successes of their own.
