Emily Jones McCoy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism in 1998 from Texas Tech University. She minored in Spanish and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

She has been involved in sports reporting since she was named sports director in 1998 at KCBD-TV in Lubbock. At the time, she believed she was just the second female sports director at a major network affiliate in the country. She also worked as a news reporter and anchor until she left the station in 2004. Moving to FOX Sports Southwest in 2004, she was a sideline reporter for FOX Sports' nationally televised college football package. Also, she served as reporter and anchor for FOX Sports Southwest's pre- and post-game shows for the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Dallas Stars. Still with FOX, she is the in-game reporter for the Texas Rangers' home telecasts, and she hosts the Big 12 Showcase.

Beginning in 2010 and continuing today, she works with the Major League Baseball Advanced Media and is host of “Emily's Outtakes” for the Texas Rangers' website, texasrangers.com. Since August 2008, she has worked with the Kim Dawson Agency and has made appearances in seasons four and five of the NBC series, “Friday Night Lights.”

Her civic activities and honors include being a member of the Women's Health Council at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She hosts Texas Christian University's women's football and baseball clinics. She serves on the Greer Garson Gala Committee at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. In 2003, she was chosen as the Kelly Pratas Big Sister of the Year, an honor given by the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Lubbock.
