Campus Safety: The Driving Force Behind Parking Lot Renovation

The renovation of parking lot R07, located between the Student Union Building (SUB) and the Administration building, began May 15, 2021. Major construction was finished by February 2022. In an ongoing effort to increase pedestrian safety on campus, the renovation of parking lot R07 and addition of a pedestrian mall are intended to reduce vehicle traffic and provide a raised walkway from the north side of the SUB to the Administration courtyard.

Texas Tech University takes pride in its beautiful Spanish Renaissance-style architecture while continuously adding new spaces for a fast-growing student body. While aesthetics is of paramount importance, functionality also is essential – and more so now in a fast-paced, digital and socially distanced world. Since March 2020, Texas Tech has invested millions of dollars into new facilities, building renovations, technology, equipment and more.

Texas Tech Breaks Ground on Academic Sciences Building

Texas Tech University broke ground (Dec. 15) on the new Academic Sciences Building, which will house teaching and laboratory space for five departments within the College of Arts and Sciences: the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geosciences, Physics and Astronomy and Psychological Sciences. The three-story, 125,000-square-foot structure will be located within the historic academic core of campus, adjacent to the current Chemistry and Science buildings.
