The primary responsibility of the Central Heating and Cooling Plants (CHACP I & II) is to provide manufactured utilities to the Texas Tech University Main Campus, the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, University Medical Center, The Museum of Texas Tech University, the Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute (FBRI), The Innovation Hub at Research Park, and the Institute of Genomics for Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance (IGCAST) Phytotron in the form of steam, chilled water, compressed air, and reverse osmosis water.

 

 

Texas Tech Operation’s Central Heating and Cooling Training Program equips professionals in higher education and facility management with essential skills in Utilities operations and Energy Management. The program emphasizes hands-on training in cutting-edge technologies like Building Automation Systems (BAS), energy conservation practices, and advanced troubleshooting techniques. Participants will benefit from cross-disciplinary learning, real-world scenarios, and collaborative sessions that bridge HVAC operations with utilities and control center roles.
