About Utilities

The primary responsibility of the Central Heating and Cooling Plants (CHACP I & II) is to provide manufactured utilities to the Texas Tech campus, the Health Sciences Center, University Medical Center, The Texas Tech University Museum, the Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute (FBRT), Utility Tunnels, TTU Research Park Phytotron, and ESB II in the form of steam, chilled water, compressed air, and treated water.

Central Heating and Cooling Plant

Central Heating and Cooling Plants (CHACP) provide steam and chilled water for heating and cooling, respectively. CHACP I serves the main Texas Tech campus, while CHACP II serves the Health Sciences Center and University Medical Center.
