About Utilities

The primary responsibility of the Central Heating and Cooling Plants (CHACP I & II) is to provide manufactured utilities to the Texas Tech University Main Campus, the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, University Medical Center, The Museum of Texas Tech University, the Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute (FBRI), The Innovation Hub at Research Park, and the Institute of Genomics for Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance (IGCAST) Phytotron in the form of steam, chilled water, compressed air, and reverse osmosis water.

Central Heating and Cooling Plant

Central Heating and Cooling Plants (CHACP) provide steam and chilled water for heating and cooling, respectively. CHACP I serves the main Texas Tech campus, while CHACP II serves the Health Sciences Center and University Medical Center.

Operations Control Center

Operations Call Center performs skilled work in monitoring environmental control equipment, energy management, energy conservation programs, and property/life safety alarms for Texas Tech University facilities.
