Dr. Morales is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications at Texas Tech University. An experienced educator and researcher, she brings a strong background in international agricultural development and a global perspective to her teaching, research, and outreach.
Dr. Morales research focuses on the human dimensions of agricultural development, emphasizing resilience, and sustainability to create food-secure communities. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as global agricultural issues, food security, and gender equity in agribusiness. She has also co-led international grant-funded projects with organizations including USAID, FONTAGRO, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
Before joining Texas Tech, Dr. Morales served as the Director of the General Studies Department and Associate Professor at the Pan-American Agricultural School, Zamorano, in Honduras. During her tenure, she led transformative initiatives, including modernizing academic infrastructure and introducing programs to enhance student success. Her teaching portfolio has spanned undergraduate, graduate, and continued education courses in topics such as community knowledge management, adult education, and women's leadership. Additionally, her career includes key roles with USAIDs Farmer-to-Farmer Program and the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET), where she contributed to food security and capacity-building initiatives across Latin America.
Recognized for her leadership and contributions, Dr. Morales has received several honors, including the Outstanding Masters and Doctoral Student awards from the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications at Texas Tech University and the Outstanding Early Career Achievement award from the Association for International Agricultural Education and Extension.
Dr. Morales earned her Bachelors degree in Agroindustry from the Pan-American Agricultural School, Zamorano in Honduras, and her Masters and Doctoral degrees in Agricultural Education and Agricultural Communications and Education, respectively, from Texas Tech University.
