
Bachelor of Science inArts & Sciences Multidisciplinary Studies
Similar to our Bachelor of General Studies in Arts & Sciences Multidisciplinary Studies, our Bachelor of Science is designed to better engage students interested in pursuing studies in the sciences. Concentrations for this degree must come from STEM related fields. Though not as flexible as our Bachelor of General Studies degree, the BS in Arts & Sciences Multidisciplinary Studies still offers a variety of possibilities. This degree is made up of
- 44 hours of State of Texas Core Curriculum (link to Catalog or more permanent Core Curriculum information)
- 3 hours of college level foreign language completed at the Sophomore (2000:2999) level
or the equivalent.
- Sophomore foreign language courses require first-year course(s) as a prerequisite.
- 4 hours of General Education
- 3 hours in English Literature
- Some courses here may also satisfy State Core requirement.
- 3 hours in English Literature
- 1 hour in Personal Fitness & Wellness
3 Areas of Concentration
- All three areas of concentration must be STEM focused.
- Each concentration is based on the related minor and must include at least 18 hours of coursework.
- Two concentrations must be housed in the College of Arts & Sciences while the third
may come from any program offered at the University.
- If one or more A&S concentration is interdisciplinary, at least 30 hours between all concentrations must come from A&S disciplines.
- Two courses must carry the Communication Literacy (CL) attribute; of which, one must be from an A&S discipline.
- At least 24 hours of major coursework must be taken at the Junior/Senior (3000:4999) level.
- At least 18 hours of major coursework must be taken in residence; of which, at least
9 in residence hours must be taken at the Junior/Senior (3000:4999) level.
General Degree Requirements
- All undergraduate degrees require a minimum of 120 total completed hours.*
- All undergraduate degrees at Texas Tech require a minimum of 40 completed hours at the Junior/Senior level*
- At least 30 hours must be taken in residence.
*Elective hours may be required to meet degree and university hour count requirements.
