Burkhart Center 2023 Summer Communication Skills Camp
The Burkhart Center at Texas Tech University is hosting a teacher training summer camp, and we are accepting applications from special education teachers who work in public school districts and are certified teachers.
The five-day camp will be offered twice in the summer, on July 10-14 and July 24-28.
The camp aims to provide functional communication training for teachers who work with individuals who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and limited communicative abilities. You will have the chance to work alongside a trained Burkhart staff member, providing one-on-one support to a child with ASD (ages 3-9).
Please note that this camp is also part of a research study, and data collected through participation may be used for research purposes.
If you are a teacher who would like to participate, please feel fill out our online application or email Alexis Favela at alexis.j.favela@ttu.edu.
Participants can receive up to $250 and 30 continuing education hours towards teacher certification. A compensation hierarchy and requirements sheet will be provided to you upon acceptance and confirmation to the camp.
We are truly grateful for your time and consideration in helping us conduct this research. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
