On October 31, 2023, Dr. Jerald Mason's family mourned their loved one's loss in Holladay, Utah. Mason lived a full life for 82 years, filled with an unwavering commitment to both his family and the field of personal financial planning.

Mason had a deep passion for financial planning, which led to the creation of nationally recognized programs at Brigham Young and Texas Tech University. He also played a distinct role in launching the Association for Financial Planning and Counseling Education and the Accredited Financial Counseling certification program. In recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to financial planning, Mason was awarded the Loren Dunton Memorial Award and the Dr. A. William "Bill" Gustafson Distinguished Leadership Award.

His love for the outdoors and his family defined his personal time outside the classroom. Camping, hiking, and family vacations were common occurrences in the Mason family. After retirement, Mason spent his time in a cabin at Bryce Canyon National Park, enjoying the beauties of nature. His legacy is not only in the financial planning programs he built but, in his family, and the many lives he touched. He is survived by his two brothers, his wife Joyce, their six children, and eleven grandchildren.

As friends, family, and colleagues mourn the loss of Dr. Jerald Mason, his legacy continues through the hearts of those he inspired, mentored, and loved.
