Car Icon  Parking

Free public parking is available on the north (4th St.) and the West (Indiana Ave.) sides of the building. Handicapped access to the building is on the east end of the building, but no parking is available at that door.

Accessibility Icon Accessibility

The Museum wants everyone to have a pleasurable experience. If you have special needs, please contact (806) 742-2490.

All Museum galleries are accessible for wheelchair users. Wheelchairs are available if needed on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is a handicapped accessible entrance on the east side of the building. We recommend dropping off visitors with special needs at that entrance before parking in the north lot.

Sensory Equipment

The Museum now offers special sensory backpacks so that people who are diagnosed with Autism or other special sensory needs can enjoy the Museum in an atmosphere that sensory back packis comfortable for their specific sensory needs.

The new backpacks are available from the Museum's Education Division. Materials included in the backpacks are:

  • Noise reducing headphones
  • Weighted suspenders
  • Sunglasses
  • Fidget toys

Whether you come alone or with family and friends, your visit to the Museum of Texas Tech University should be fun. We encourage you to spend as much time as you would like in our galleries. Our museum is a wonderful mix of fine arts, cultural artifacts and natural science, a combination you do not always find in a museum.

Still pictures and video in the Museum's galleries are encouraged! Please do not use any flash as this can affect the objects.  

Pencil sketching is allowed.

If you have children under age 12, we ask they remain supervised the duration of your visit.

Strollers, baby carriers, and diaper bags are permitted. Backpacks and other large bags are not. There are secure lockers located at our front desk to store these items while you visit.

Please check in at our front desk and grab a visitor's guide! We are here to answer any questions you may have.

Don't forget to visit our Museum Gift Shop at the front of the museum for a variety of books, art, jewelry, toys and other items.
