Improving Communication in a Diverse World

We are crossing cultural boundaries daily even when we don't cross national borders! Today's global marketplace and increasing diversity in our local interactions mean we often communicate with people who differ from us. Even using the same language, words have different meanings to members of different age or demographic groups in the United States. Though these can be the origin of many misunderstandings and discomforts, this class will discover ways to improve and overcome our communication challenges.

Marye Tharp, Ph.D. is a retired associate professor who has taught at the University of Texas, Emerson College, and Schreiner University.
