Texas Tech University

Dual Degree JD/MPA

The Department of Political Science in association with the School of Law, offers a program which enables the student to earn both the J.D. and M.P.A degrees in approximately four years of full-time study.  One-year of law school then the next three years in the dual degree program.  Both degrees can be completed with 108 hours of public administration and law courses instead of the 129 hours plus internship required if pursued separately.  The application must be made and approved by both the School of Law and the Graduate School.  No student may complete the M.P.A. program in less than 12 months.  Students must be enrolled at the Texas Tech University Law School and can apply to the dual degree JD/MPA program during their second semester of law school.  Steps for the application process can be found here.
