What are you watching/streaming?
This summer, my most notable watches were: The Staircase (HBO), The White Lotus (HBO), and Prehistoric Planet (Apple TV). All were fantastic. The most recent season of Stranger Things is at the top of my list right now and, for comfort and laughs, I am rewatching Derry Girls and The Office.
What games are you playing?
My family adopted a puppy named Winnie this summer, so most of our games lately involve throwing a ball or running around with puppy and our five-year-old son.
What are you listening to?
Lately I've been into Post Malone, Stick Figure, Khruangbin, and Lord Huron.
What are you reading?
I am reading several excellent books right now: Black Cake, The School for Good Mothers, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, and My Life in France. Also, I read a lot over the summer and highly recommend: When Women Were Dragons, When Breath Becomes Air, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Klara and the Sun.
What are you writing/thinking about?
I am finishing my new book, Dancing Motherhood, which centralizes the experiences of pregnant women and mothers in dance. Aligned with this project is a collaborative project, Pandemic Mama, which narrows focus to mothers' experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. My collaborators and I have produced a Pandemic Mama film and live immersive performance and are now in the process of collecting additional data and developing a book proposal to extend the project into a scholarly direction.
