Call for Applicants: Spring 2026 Scholar-in-Residence

The Humanities Center is calling for applications from candidates external to the university for the Scholar-in-Residence program. The Center is particularly interested in scholars engaged in interdisciplinary research addressing questions beyond their primary field.

Nomination Criteria

Candidates must be tenured faculty at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in a humanities field, with a strong publication record and international scholarly reputation.

Preference will be given to scholars whose work connects to the 2025–2026 theme: Humanity: Agency, Equality, Pleasure, Violence, Death.

Position Details

  • Full-time, benefits-eligible position
  • $40,000 stipend
  • Residency: February 1 – May 1, 2026
  • Minimum of 10 weeks in Lubbock required

The Humanities Center provides office space, computer access, and library privileges. While housing and transportation are not provided, assistance is available in locating accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead three 90-minute research workshops
  • Deliver a 45-minute public lecture in April 2026
  • Participate in Spring 2026 programming events
