Lifeguard & Re-Certification Course

Texas Tech Aquatics offers the Red Cross Lifeguard course as well as the lifeguard review course to renew your lifeguard certification. Both are offered in two portions:
-Pre-Course
-Lifeguard Recert or Lifeguarding Class (Full)

The pre-course consists of: swim 300 yards without stopping using front crawl and breaststroke, tread water for 2 minutes using legs only, and retrieve a 10-lb brick from minimum of 7 feet deep water and swim 20 yards with the weight, using legs only and exit the water without using a ladder or steps within 1 minute 40 seconds. The cost of the pre-course is $15.00.

We have concluded our classes for the season and will be hosting more this Spring 2022.

We have currently closed our hiring for the season. We will be reopeing our hiring sessions in Spring 2022. 

Lifeguarding Certification Classes

This course prepares candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to aquatic emergencies and prevent drowning and other incidents. After successful completion of the course, participants will receive the following certifications: Lifeguard Training (good for 2 years), First Aid (2 years), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for The Professional Rescuer (2 years) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) (2 years).

The first step you will need to complete is regersting for a pre-course, which consists of a 300 hundred swim, 2 minutes of treading water and a timed brick retrival. After successful completion of Pre-Course, you will register at the precourse for your class.

Lifeguard Review/Re-certification Course 

Lifeguard Recertification participants must provide proof of valid Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications and pass the pre-course.

Lifeguard Certifications will be issued:
