The Clemon Montgomery Scholarship Endowment was established in 2002 by the Agricultural Workers Mutual Auto Insurance Company, where Clemon served as Chairman of the Board for fifteen years and Director for twenty-four years. The scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Agricultural Education.

Clemon Montgomery passed away in November 2012. He was a graduate of Sam Houston State University where he received his B.S. and M.S. in education. Clemon also had combined graduate studies with Texas Tech University. He became an agricultural educator in Sweetwater, Texas when he served as an instructor for the Veteran's On-the-Farm Training Program after World War II. He then became a vocational agriculture teacher at Lamesa High School and served as the Texas FFA Area Advisor and was appointed as the Texas FFA Executive Secretary. He worked for four years with Tenneco Chemicals and then began working for the Texas Department of Agriculture. He served as one of three administrators who planned and directed agricultural service work at the county level. He was recognized for his outstanding work by being appointed State Administrator and then Chief Deputy to the Texas Commissioner of Agriculture.

Clemon retired in 1982 and became Associate Vice President of the Texas Federation of Cooperatives, an organization designed to further economic interests of the Texas farm and ranch communities. He also became the Executive Vice President of the Texas Cottonseed Crushers Association in 1985. Clemon served the agricultural industry in many different aspects and was highly recognized for his accomplishment in each of these areas. Over his years, he received various awards and was elected to serve on numerous boards in respected leadership positions.
