The Marion Rieff Memorial Scholarship was established by Jacob and Kendra Rieff in
2013. The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the Department of Plant and
Soil Science who are studying crop science and who possess a strong work ethic. Scholarship
is based on need with a preference to a graduate student not on an assistantship.
Marion graduated from Texas Tech University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Secondary Education
in Elementary Education. She taught in the Hale Center ISD for 20 years as a reading
specialist. She was born in 1956 in Goldsmith, TX and passed away in 2011. She and
her husband Jerry had three sons- Joshua, Jacob, and Justin.
Jacob Rieff and his wife Kendra established this scholarship in her memory. Jacob
graduated from Texas Tech University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary
Agriculture and continued on to receive his masters in crop science in 2011.
