About PEGASUS

  • Pioneers in Education: Generations Achieving Scholarship and Unprecedented Success.
  • Pegasus stands in mythology as a means of accomplishing the previously unattainable. Throughout the ages, the image of the winged horse has evoked thoughts of exploration, independence, and triumph. Across the cultural spectrum, the winged horse signifies pure intellect, unblemished innocence, light, and life itself.
  • The TTU PEGASUS Program seeks to make exploration, innovation, and academic success attainable realities for First Generation College (FGC) Students. The emblem of PEGASUS is not only a reminder of these noble goals, but it is also a symbol of the services with which the program will provide its students.
  • PEGASUS is focused on helping you become the first in your family to really learn about college through the experience of being here.
  • First and second year students as well as transfer students can be assigned to a student mentor. Our mentors are juniors and seniors in the program and are here to help develop peer relationships that are proven to be vital to your success while in college.

Coordinator of the TTU PEGASUS Program Kyla Doddridge, B.A., M.E., is originally from Kirk, Colorado, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Kyla came to Lubbock in 2003 to pursue her Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Higher Education. She has worked in University Student Housing for the past several years in administrative roles, most recently the Manager for Recruitment, Staff Orientation, and Education.  She is currently pursuing a PhD in Higher Education at Texas Tech.

As the PEGASUS Coordinator, Kyla is passionate about the development of college students, understands the importance of meeting students where they are developmentally, and encourages them to engage in their own learning and identity development. She looks forward to working with First Generation College Students as they embark on the college experience - for themselves and their families. Kyla hopes to empower students to take charge of their learning experience and to support them throughout their time at Texas Tech University.
In her leisure time Kyla enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Multiple trips home to Colorado each year are a must! She enjoys getting out and meeting people in a variety of atmospheres as much as she enjoys time at home with her cat, Lilly and her dog, Oliver.
