Texas Tech University School of Law is committed to assisting students throughout their time at Tech Law. The Office for Student Life has several programs internally, as well as resources for external programs, to assist with a variety of student support needs.
Professional Development Fund
The Professional Development Fund (PDF) was established to provide funding assistance to law students who participate in professional activities that are not otherwise funded by the law school. More information about this fund, and an application, may be found here.
Law school is a rigorous professional degree program, and Tech Law has introduced a number of programs alongside Texas Tech campus services for students struggling with mental health, substance abuse, or emotional concerns, such as serious medical illness, death in the family, or threats of violence.
Student Support & Emergency Team (SSET)
The Student Support & Emergency Team is a standing group of administrators and faculty members who assist law students experiencing a variety of personal and institutional problems. Students, faculty, and staff can refer issues and emergencies directly to any member of the SSET team. Current SSET members are Associate Dean John Delony, Associate Dean Alison Myhra, Assistant Dean and Registrar Janessa Walls, Paula Smith, Danielle Saavedra, Erica Lux, and Alex Pearl.
Texas Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP)
