Objectives:
To provide students who desire a career in photocommunications a sound curriculum with emphasis on both theoretical and practical course work. The degree is based on a strong liberal arts core of courses.

**Enrollment in course requires passing Grammar, Spelling, Punctuation exam given in College of Mass Communications
Required Mass Communications elective courses:
Six to nine semester hours selected, with the advice and consent of your adviser, from Photography, Advertising, Electronic Media and Communications, Public Relations or Telecommunications courses. A minimum of 39 hours or a maximum of 42 hours may be taken from Mass Communications courses. Students are required to complete a minimum of 90 hours outside the College of Mass Communications.

Required Minor:
A minor consists of a minimum of 18 hours. Students are free to choose, but recommended minors include Art, English, Psychology, Sociology and Business Administration [Finance, General Business, Marketing, Management, Management Information Systems (ISQS)]. Mass Communications majors are required to select their minor outside of the College of Mass Communications.
Job/Internship Opportunities:
Photocommunications students will find job and internship opportunities at numerous places. Local organizations such as the Texas Tech University News and Publications office, Texas Tech's yearbook La Ventana or newspaper The University Daily or any local newspaper, magazine or television station can provide a student with practical experience while in Lubbock. Local, regional, national and international commercial photographers, freelance photographers, retail and other businesses offer endless job possibilities within the photocommunications realm.
Students can look forward to careers in various facets of photocommunications such as fashion, entertainment, digital imaging operations, online production, marketing, digital licensing and imaging or seek out photography, media, camera, film, scanner and display technology firms for opportunities.
