External VP Committees

Transportation Fee Committee

This committee will work with Citibus and University Parking Services to develop efficient bus routes and evaluate the current services. The committee will also monitor other services such as Safe Ride and the campus night shuttle. A recommendation is to be submitted to the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Administration and Finance by October 1 each year.

Transportation Policy Advisory Committee

The committee advises University Parking Services on transportation issues.

Recreational Advisory Fee Committee

This committee will work with the Rec Sports staff to discuss new additions to the equipment, facility upgrades, and improvements to the Rec Sports department. The committee will also establish the final fee charge for the Rec Center Fee. A recommendation is to be submitted to the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Administration and Finance by October 1 each year.

City Involvement Committee

This committee will meet with city officials discuss issues that effect students and community members. The members will work as a partnership between the Lubbock City Council and the Chamber of Commerce to improve community relations for students as well as the citizens of Lubbock.

Recycling Committee

This committee will meet to discuss ways of improving the current recycling program on campus. This committee will also find ways for the entire Texas Tech system to implement a green plan to make sure that we leave the smallest carbon footprint possible while here at Texas Tech.

Facilities Planning & Construction

This committee serves as an advisory board regarding current and future construction projects. Members assess proposed project lay-outs or designs and offer student recommendations. This committee meets on an as-needed basis.

Intergovernmental

Members of this committee focus on informing students of current issues involved with local and statewide government. This committee is in charge of marketing and monitoring voter registration drives including the establishment of a permanent voting location on campus.

Legislative Advisory

Members of this committee will act as a student voice in determining what legislation is important to the students of Texas Tech University, and communicating that voice to the administration of Texas Tech and to the State Legislature.

Public Relations

This committee works to help promote Texas Tech services such as Safe Ride. Members also organize and participate in other Texas Tech activities.

Public Safety

Members of this committee work with the Texas Tech police department to monitor safety issues across the Texas Tech campus. The committee also organizes a student safety night for students to improve their relationship with the Texas Tech Police Department.

Student Community

This committee meets with city officials to discuss issues that effect students and community members. Members work as a partnership to improve community relations between students and the citizens of Lubbock.

Student Life

Members of this committee help organize and participate in various campus activities including Take a Kid to the Game, Drowsy Driving Day, Tech Lubbock Community Day, and Arbor Day.
