Dr. Fischer is an assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications.

Dr. Fischer uses research to best understand how to strategically communicate to targeted audiences about agriculture and natural resource issues. She is interested in how individuals form opinions about agricultural sciences, and the types of messages that can be used to inform people. She uses a variety of tools and research methods, such as dial testing, eye tracking, and psychophysiology, to understand what makes an effective message and to understand how audiences perceive the message.

Dr. Fischer teaches Communicating Agriculture to the Public and Public Opinion of Agriculture and Natural Resources and looks forward to expanding her course offerings. Dr. Fischer states that she is passionate about teaching and wants her students to succeed in their future endeavors, inside and outside of the classroom.

Dr. Fischer serves as the Vice Chair of the Research and Academic SIG at the Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture and Natural Resources (ACE). In addition, she serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Applied Communications, Science Communication, and the National Agricultural Communications Symposium.

Prior to returning to TTU, she was an assistant professor in the Department of Integrated Strategic Communication at the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Fischer received her Ph.D. in Agricultural Communications from Texas Tech, her M.S. in Agricultural Education and Communications from the University of Florida, and her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Florida. Fischer has author and co-authored award winning research papers and posters including outstanding research article in the Journal of Applied Communications, the Association for Communication Excellence outstanding paper, the SAAS Agricultural Education distinguished paper, and National Agricultural Communications Symposium's distinguished paper. She has also been recognized for her teaching by receiving the Helen DeVitt Jones Excellence in Graduate Teaching (2017).

Dr. Fischer and her husband, Kyle, are the proud parents to Lillian.
